I am usually not surprised by anything that happens during the NFL season, I usually can call who is going to be good and not, I usually can call the teams that are going to surprise people, and those that are not going to be as good as people think. However, I did not see this coming at all. The San Diego Chargers, a team I thought would be in the Super Bowl this year, isn’t even going to come close to making the playoffs. What happened? Where did their running game go? Where is Tomlinson? Where is the entire team? The Chargers are 4-8. The most they can win this season is now only 8 games. That is not going to get any team into the playoffs. This usually, doesn’t happen, but I admit I was wrong. The Chargers aren’t as good as I thought they were.

Knicks Banish Marbury

This is a few days old, but the New York Knicks, did what they probably should have did a long time ago, which is banish Stephon Marbury. Marbury was ordered Monday to stay away from the Knicks while the team looks for a solution to its $21 million problem—one that has lingered since the preseason and exploded last week when the team suspended him for refusing to play and he retaliated with a series of inflammatory remarks about coach Mike D’Antoni.

BCS Controversy Ahead—Again??

I hate talking about the BCS (who doesn’t) which is why I am not sure why I am blogging about this. But Florida fans, go away now and go to one of my previous blogs……Gone yet?……..Anyway, there is a scenario in which Florida can beat number one Alabama, and still be left out of the BCS. How? I don’t know, I can’t even pretend to act like I understand. Here’s the article though, maybe you can understand it better.

NBA Power Rankings

I usually don’t blog about anything other than the NFL, but hey it is basketball season now, so I can give the NBA some attention. The NBA power rankings are on Yahoo, and surprise, surprise, the Lakers are number one. The Oklahoma City Thunder, who are last (who honestly thought they wouldn’t be), wish they were in LA’s spot. But who doesn’t? This could be there year.

Playoff Time

My favorite time of the NFL year is coming up. The Playoffs. What teams will make it? Who will advance to the super bowl? Who will win the super bowl? Are all questions soon to be on every one’s mind. I am pulling for the Jets. I still think Dallas has a great chance to make it all the way. We will see soon enough however.

NFC North Crown

After years of following the Packers, I know alot about the NFC North. My question is a simple one, who will win the division. Minnesota is my bet. Green Bay has fallen off, and the Bears I just don’t think have what it takes. The Lions just took the year off, as they do every year. Minnesota is my bet. Who is yours?

Burress To Be Charged

Plaxico Burress plans to turn himself in to police Monday morning in New York City and plead not guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, his lawyer said Sunday. Over the weekend, Burress accidently shot himself in the leg and suffered non life-threatening injuries. Weird story if you ask me, apart from the shooting himself part, none of this adds up. I could be here for hours, writing about this,but we’ll just have to see what happens.

Patriots Get Beat-Badly

The Pittsburgh Steelers finally got over the hump by beating the New England Patriots sunday 33-10. They had lost 6 of their last 8 to New England, that includes two AFC Championship game losses to the Patriots. FInally, they are over the hump that was the Patriots. “We heard a lot of talk about it being a rivalry,” Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin had said after the game. “It hasn’t been much of a rivalry until you win some. That’s what we talked about coming up here.” Well, now that pittsburgh has a win against the Patriots, I guess the rivalry is on.

Just in time for Thanksgiving

The NFL is going to allow wider viewing of the Thanksgiving game Thursday night between the Eagles and Cardinals. They are going to allow the game to be available to subscribers of cable systems in eastern and central Pennsylvania.

The NFL said on Sunday that cable companies will carry the game after a letter from Sen. Arlen Specter (remember him? Spygate anyone?) on Friday to commissioner Roger Goodell that thanked him for allowing the recent Pittsburgh-Cincinnati game to appear on cable TV in areas around the Pittsburgh area. The letter also asked for a similar arrangement for Eagles fans outside the immediate Philadelphia area—where fans were already set to get the game on over-the-air TV.

How do I make sense of this one? I could just let you read the article, which is what i’m going to do. We all know that a good practical joke is always welcomed–well, maybe not always. Eli Manning’s wife didn’t find the joke pulled by the Giants o-lineman very funny at all.
